Pacific Raceway SCCA Dbl National
(1st and the 50 cent part)

May 25, 2009- SCCA Double National, Pacific Raceway- I know many of you out there will have stories very similar to this but we had a mixed bag of results in Seattle last weekend for the annual Memorial Day event.

Saturday was practice, qualifying for race 1 and over hour we finaly had a chance to do the worker/charity rides that were auctioned off at the January Northwest Region Banquet.

Fast forward to Sunday and the first race of the weekend that went off without a hitch. We cruised to our first win of the year without incident.

The Monday morning qualifying session was used to capture some great laps on our GoPro cameras for the first of a series of "Fast Lap" webcasts we will be releasing. The videos will feature input from local instructors of the tracks we visit to pass on the tricks for a fast lap at that track. The first of the series will of course be from Pacific Raceway where we enlisted the help of ProFormance Racing School Lead instructor, Michael Lord to talk us through the lap. The Pacific Raceway video should be ready in a week or so.

Monday afternoon was unfortunately a different story and here is where the 50 cent part comes to play. AKA: the Murphy rule!! 5 laps into the race, we noticed temps starting to go up and steam coming out the back. We backed off immediately and headed for pit lane only to find out the water in the system.....was leaving the system!!! It turned out a 50 cent part, in this case a blanking plug used to block off the old location of the heat exchanger. It had split and was providing the cooling system with an easy exit point. With nothing to gain but damage if we kept going so the plug was pulled on that race.

All in all it was a great weekend and we were certainly made to feel extremely welcome by the awesome crew that organizes the Northwest Region races.

FRC-K20 update

As we stated in an earlier release, the Elite transaxle has arrived and the dry sump has now been installed but we ran into a delay on the bellhousing. It had to be sent back for some slight changes and is expected back in the shop by June 10th. Shortly after that we should have the assembly in place on the chassis that is anxiously awaiting it.
