April 13, 2008 - The Fusion FRC-14 had an outstanding weekend at Rivers Edge Raceway, Mission BC. On it’s way to winning it’s class in 2 separate events, the FRC-14 also managed to set 2 Sports Racer track records. 
“The team came into the weekend with high expectationss but I don’t think anyone had even thought of track records” said Fusion Racecars president Dennis Bainbridge.
There were a number of things for the team to be excited about leading up to the weekend. First, Fusion Racing Ltd. had recently become a distributor for Ohlin’s shocks and while down in North Carolina at the Ohlin’s USA office Dennis had picked up a set of the new TTX36 shocks to test.
The company also launched their online store for the Fusion Racecars website the week before the race. And as a result of the relationship that developed with ShopFactory.com (the developers of the store software used) during the process, ShopFactory.com joined the team as a sponsor.
The third component that raised expectations was two new members to the team fresh off a successful first trip to Daytona 24. Norm Olynuk joined the team as crew chief and Glenn Nixon would split driving duties with Dennis.
As the Friday test and then the race weekend progressed, the team under the guidance of it’s new crew chief were able to dial in the car until Glenn set a new track record during his Saturday race and promptly went out and set a new one on his Sunday race. “The car was fun to drive” said Nixon who drove the car for the first time on Friday. “It was predictable and I found it easy to drive” he added…I think that was an understatement.
“It would have been very interesting to see how much lower we could have gone if our soft Dunlop tires had made it here on time” said crew chief Olynuk, “with the cold temperatures after the rain, the medium compound tires were not giving the grip we would have liked”.
Off the track the action was also hot as the team fed over 100 guests with their inaugeral season opener BBQ. It was a great way to showcase the products they carry like Dunlop, Goodridge, Ohlin's, Racing Radios, Nitro Lube, Bead Seats, fire systems and more.Thanks to all who attended.
